Case Study: Blogger Outreach for Oxfam America’s International Women’s Day 2012 Campaign

Waxing UnLyrical

One of the most fun projects I’ve worked on recently was Oxfam America’s (OA) International Women’s Day (IWD) 2012 campaign. Since every good campaign begins with the end in sight , our discussions led us to agree on our objective: to pitch and secure posts featuring or highlighting the 2012 IWD campaign, that specifically asked readers to: send an OA 2012 IWD eCard , present OA’s downloadable 2012 IWD award to a woman who had inspired them, or.

Public Relations: It’s Called A ‘Profession’ For A Reason

Waxing UnLyrical

I write a lot about the subject myself. I’ve been dealing with a situation for the past few weeks involving a student who thought she wanted to “ ‘be’ in public relations.”. That is, until she found out that she was expected to actually do something besides sit at her desk or go to parties. To quote my hero, Homer Simpson, “D-Oh!”. Those of us who now work or have worked in the public relat. ions profession know there’s a boatload of stuff that comprises the field. Edward L.

How Facebook Could Become Irrelevant

Waxing UnLyrical

I share two things on Facebook: pictures of my kids and links to my writing. The pictures are primarily for grandparents and family who live three time zones away, and the writing is to share with anyone who’s interested. I used to write songs about the girls I had crushes on in seventh grade. After surpassing 1 billion users this past month, Facebook has become an institution that appears to have some staying power.

Why Buffer, HootSuite and Post Planner are the Holy Trinity of Managing Social Media

Waxing UnLyrical

Maybe it’s because after Jay Pinkert posted such a thorough write-up of it on Spin Sucks , there wasn’t really any need to… I just started using it immediately! When it comes to staying on top of social media, one of the big challenges we have is to find the social media tools that will help us achieve a happy medium between curating, listening, engaging and producing content. Frankly, I think that medium isn’t all that happy.

Writing the ebook you’ve never felt you had the time to research properly? There’s a lot of advice for small business owners to learn to say no. The Byline Article GOOD Pitch is Fresh Content

Bad Pitch Blog

It meant I had some content for my blog and a good pitch to write about here. His second paragraph establishes he''s experienced at writing and his third paragraph includes multiple ideas. To give him some incentive to write it, I also mentioned this post. Byline article pitches usually stink. This is because, even if the pitch is targeted, the article is usually included in the pitch. The recipient assumes the article has been sent to several other blogs or media outlets.
