First, we need more local journalism–whether it’s professional or not. People want to learn more about their communities! We wrote articles ourselves (sometimes under anonymous bylines–hey, I didn’t say it was the most ethical publication!). And second, school newspapers are in my blood.

The Shumen Theatre was the first theatre in Bulgaria, the Shumen Symphony Orchestra was the first, and the Shumen Community Center was the first in Bulgaria. My dad had sent me to learn the language at the local Community center and I knew only how to greet and say goodbye to people, but I still told him that I knew how to speak.

But I was such a big fan of journalism, so I became a correspondent, travelled all over the world and met a lot of people. One day, I remembered the words of Winston Churchill “You can achieve a lot of things with journalism, but you must know when to quit”. This is the largest PR community in the world.
