At a minimum, you can keep a record of an article for year-over-year comparison, even if you can’t access the underlying content 12, or 24 months later for example. They’ll know their costs for media monitoring upfront and can put that in their pitch. The archive of results is kept for as long as the source publisher will permit.

Media relations has shifted from pitching traditional media to working with these individuals across all forms of media. By comparison the speech recognition built into Apple iOS and Google apps is incredible. Bots have been developed to help with customer service, support and sales. It was a lousy experience.
