Undoubtedly the pressures and volatility of working in PR/communications ( as I discussed recently with Nigel Sarbutts ) contribute towards feelings of losing control and being unhappy at work. I also wonder whether disillusion may be inherent in PR/communications careers and act as a brake on long-term effectiveness. David Sawyer.

What is unique about my position is that I sit within the our Portland Newsroom – consisting of our PR, Social and Analytics team – so I work hand in hand with my PR leads, Social Strategists, Community Managers and Analytics lead. This could be a great way for storytellers to communicate their messages to the right audiences in real time.

I have adjusted – more or less – to the fact that I will not see my grandfather again, as he passed away in 2003. I have been involved since the first day I joined in 2003 – 14 years ago (I am starting to realize I am old). Professionally the organization has helped me grow skill sets and build a reputation in this community. I am who interviewed. PRSA has played a significant role in both my professional and personal life. I need to be me.
