It has struck me that this standard message is regurgitated by a lot of organisations in their marketing and advertising material and it’s a wasted opportunity. (I I watched some regional SA television recently – during a Christmas trip – and saw a swathe of festive commercial messages from local retailers. Happy New Year!

One of my favorite annual reports is the Pew Research Center’s State of the News Media 2015. This may be intentional, as mobile visitors are less valuable to advertisers (and therefore publishers) according to Pew (validated by comScore data). Early evening and local morning news viewership is also up for a second year in a row.

Vice magazine, originally a local magazine in Montreal and best-known for local coverage and shock journalism, grew into Vice Media.
