The Voice of Bulgaria...

In his weekly column "Max's Column" for TBmagazine, Maxim Behar talks about the difficulties and changes in the Bulgarian economy and business and the only force that counts - experience.

In the (non) coalition, the battle over who will possess the foreign ministry begins. But this time, the fight isn’t about who will appoint ambassadors or travel at state expense in business class around the world; instead, everyone from left to the far-right claims that it’s essential who will speak on behalf of Bulgaria abroad.

Throughout these thirty years of Bulgaria, for better or worse, mainly for the better, around two million people have gone out to seek happiness and money worldwide... or the rough statistics. Yet, in the same thirty years, not a single Bulgarian government has managed to conduct even a halfway decent campaign to tell the world about Bulgaria, about all the fantastic and not-so-wonderful events within it, about the successes and failures, about the people and their happiness here. They failed.

The government of the relatively decent and slightly academic-bureaucratic tandem Denkov-Gabriel – Bulgarian Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister also failed. But they could have succeeded. And that's why it doesn't matter who will be the foreign minister because Bulgaria's voice is heard quite clearly through the stories and actions of these two million people, our best ambassadors abroad. And - of course - most strongly through social media.
