We’re back this month with another meet the team! For March, get to know all about our media relations expert and jigsaw puzzle loving Account Director – Isobel.

How long have you been at Prohibition? Coming up to a year now – I started in April 2022.

What do you love most about your job? I have a really fun and varied client list which makes every day really interesting. The team is super engaged and switched on so they’re a delight to work with, plus work-life balance is really important to me, and that’s completely baked into the DNA at Prohibition.

Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. I’ve always been aware of Prohibition and only ever heard good things, so when I was ready to move on from my old role, I got in touch. The timing turned out to be perfect!

What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry Experience is obviously key but what we really want to see is people that can take initiative, come up with creative ideas, and read the news. Media knowledge is crucial and you’d be surprised how many people struggle when asked about their favourite publications in an interview!

What’s your favourite social media platform and why? I have a total love-hate relationship with Instagram. It’s so rich with inspiration but the picture perfect vibes can get on top of you. I’ve got strict screen time limits to make sure it doesn’t eat into time that I’d rather spend doing something else.

What do you love most about working/living up North? Living in a buzzy, growing city with a thriving food, arts and culture scene, and easy access to the Yorkshire countryside. The pace of life is perfect for me.

What three things could you not live without? My books, a cosy blanket and an extra long phone charger.

Give us your favourite quote. “I am the one thing in life I can control”

– it’s from the musical Hamilton but neatly sums up my long-held philosophy that you can’t control what anyone else is doing, but you can decide what effect you’ll let it have on you and how you will react. Always useful for bringing a bit of perspective to things.

If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? The Princess of Wales. I’m mostly anti-monarchy but fascinated by the family drama and would very much like to get the tea.

What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work? A few years ago I would have said travel or fine dining but I’m a mum now and I have to get my kicks closer to home. Jigsaw puzzles are like meditation for me and restore the Zen when I get stressed out. If it all gets too much, I sit down with a 1,000 piece puzzle and a reality TV box set until I’m ready to take on the world again.
