6 tips for working in PR outside of the country

by | Feb 8, 2022 | Public Relations

Public relations is crucial for maintaining a positive image for your company or brand. The term refers to the way you, as a representative for your company, interact with the public and the media to create a strong image for your business.

If you plan for your company to make an impact outside of its own country, then maintaining good PR internationally is a must. Interacting with clients in another country may be a daunting task, but with the following six tips in mind, you can make your meetings and media interactions with international markets go as smoothly as possible.

1. Stay safe and healthy

If you plan on doing business with the public or other clients in person, you need to stay safe while traveling. Make sure to first pack all of the essentials to support your health, such as your medicine, vitamin supplements (like those supplied by USANA Canada), aspirin, antacids and hand sanitizers.

When you are traveling to another country, make sure you take all of the measures you can to support your wellness. Always wash your hands before and after meeting with other people. Once you ensure a safe trip with the right precautions taken, you will be able to engage with the public and the media with confidence.

2. Update your website

To stay in tune with the public, keep your business website updated regularly. Create a media or press page for your site to engage with other clients and the public. This page will inform the public of your history, information, upcoming events and more. A website that is kept relevant and up to date will ensure that your business’s goals and purposes are clear.

When reaching a global audience, make sure your website is accessible to your intended demographics. For instance, if you plan on doing business in countries that do not primarily speak English, provide multiple language options for your website.

3. Use social media

Social media allows businesses to relate to the public more easily than ever before. Stay active on social media platforms, advertise your company in related circles and tie in your PR campaign to these channels. Be sure to have a dedicated social media team that regularly communicates with followers as well. Social media is a great way to get direct feedback and answer questions and concerns from followers and business partners.

4. Establish connections and stay connected

Reaching out to markets outside of your country is a means to establish your company’s presence in multiple locations. Reach out to clients that you would like to work with and make connections with various markets.

Prepare to have your company relate to the public and do business worldwide should you choose to let your brand go global. Create regional social media pages and have representatives work with clients in person.

Advertise in different regions and make a good image for your company in all of your connected markets. By keeping your company’s image strong and relatable to international audiences, you can make meaningful business transactions anywhere.

5. Understand the market

Every country has vastly different practices and cultural norms. When doing PR in other markets, you should ensure that you are aware of the sensibilities of each region. Having a good grasp on the public customs in specific regions will ensure that you keep your business’s image respectable to your potential clients.

6. Respond to concerns

Public relations means that you will be faced with questions and concerns about your services. Be sure to be equipped to respond to any issues the press may have in a polite and respectable manner. Be honest and engage with the media, and you will craft a stronger image for your company.

Keep these tips in mind when engaging in public relations across the world. Reaching a global audience is intimidating, but with dedication and the right teams, your company can make a positive impact worldwide.
