Consumers willing to trade privacy for safety on COVID-19

According to the recent update to Edelman’s Trust Barometer, consumers say they are willing to suffer more surveillance and data collection to help track the spread of the coronavirus.

As some cultures have adopted ideas like cellphone tracing and other invasive forms of data collection to help track the spread of the virus, many have asked how much surveillance and monitoring consumers will tolerate.

According to the latest update to Edelman’s Trust Barometer, if organizations can tie their efforts to preventing the spread of the coronavirus, consumers might be willing to capitulate on some issues.
