How long have you been at Prohibition? I started in January 2021 (just gone a year!)
What do you love most about your job? I work with great people and the office atmosphere is always buzzing. Not once have I dreaded going to work on a Monday morning, which hasn’t been always been the case at previous jobs.
Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. I was in my final year of study at the University of Leeds when I secured a placement working at a PR agency in Harrogate. Alongside my studies, I spent six months working there and enjoyed every second of it. Working there, I quite quickly realised that public relations is what I wanted to do as a career. After my final year of university was cut short due to COVID, I spent the next six months working at Virgin Media, during which I was desperate to get back into PR and land a job as an Account Executive. Finally, I interviewed at Prohibition in December 2020 and was offered the job by our Director Chris on Christmas Eve!
What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry? Send out some emails to PR agencies in your area asking for unpaid work experience and you will almost certainly receive one response with an offer. The more experience you have, the better it will look on your CV when it comes to applying for an Account Executive role.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why? LinkedIn – it’s a great way to expand your client’s audience, as well as achieving great ad results when understood and optimised correctly.
What do you love most about working/living up North? The people are much funnier the further North you go, but it peaks around the Teesside region.
What three things could you not live without? Middlesbrough FC, the Coulby Farm pub, fizzy cola bottles.
If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? I’ll go Alex Turner. Or Bob Mortimer.
What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work? Drinking endless cups of tea – I’m good at that!
