POWER UP: What You Need to Know About The Battery Show / Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Show

If you haven’t already, mark the dates Oct. 8-10, 2024, on your calendar.

As an automotive or mobility tech supplier involved in the emerging EV space, you need to put The Battery Show on your agenda. Co-located with the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, North America’s largest battery technology event connects the advanced battery and electric vehicle industries and is a must-attend event.

This year’s event, held in mid-September in Novi, Michigan, enjoyed a record number of 19,000+ attendees – a 25% increase from 2022 – and had 800 exhibitors and over 200 speakers discussing industry, battery and EV technology topics. It was literally bursting at the seams of the seams, leading organizers to announce that the 2024 show will be expanding to a new location, Huntington Place (the former Cobo Center) in downtown Detroit.

If you’re an automotive or mobility suppler in the battery and EV space, here are some takeaways from The Battery Show for you to consider as you make plans for your event schedule in 2024:

  • The Battery Show continues to expand: With steadily increasing attendance year after year, the show is continuing to grow in popularity. Even in 2023, while taking place at the same time as the Detroit auto show, the event had a great turnout. And with over 1,000 exhibitors already confirmed for 2024 and the move to the attractive and easily accessible Huntington Place location in Detroit, the 2024 rendition of the show promises to be bigger and better than ever.
  • Less competition with the Detroit auto show:  A change in The Battery Show’s timing from September to October ensures that the show will no longer conflict with the Detroit auto show. This should prevent automakers, analysts, suppliers and media from having to divide resources to cover both shows.
  • Winning media attention: The media have shown growing interest in this show, with 54 media outlets attending this year, including key outlets such as Automotive News, Automotive Engineering, Autoline, Bloomberg, Forbes, WardsAuto and more. We expect even greater media attention next year as the EV juggernaut continues to gain momentum. Although we heard from our media contacts that many of the outlets were dividing their staff between The Battery Show and Detroit auto show, that won’t be the case next year. With a compelling story (and help from a trusted, experienced PR partner 😊), you may be able to snag some terrific media attention for your EV or battery technologies at the 2024 show.
  • Thought leadership opportunities: With numerous speaking opportunities available at the show – from roundtables and workshops to technical sessions, panels and lightning talks – there are a number of ways your executives and experts can demonstrate your company’s expertise and thought leadership.
  • The time to start planning is now: While the show is a year away, if you haven’t started thinking about your plans for the show next year, you’re already behind your competitors. And with 1,000 exhibitors already signed up for 2024, each day you wait you risk losing some of your options. Get started today so you don’t get left behind.

Participating in The Battery Show is well worth an automotive or mobility supplier’s consideration. But don’t just take our word for it.

Automotive News, in an editorial, said, “The Battery Show is the event the industry needs.” And noted that “the Battery Show was swarming with gear heads, scientists and tech companies offering ways to support — and capitalize on — the industry’s EV future.”
