Morning Consult explored Americans’ perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI) and social media.

Online interviews of 2,200 U.S. adults were conducted monthly from June 2022 to May 2023. Surveys of 10,000 non-U.S. adults were collected in May 2023.

Key findings include:
— 56% of all U.S. adults said they would not pay to use social media platforms.
—– 7% of Gen Z adults and 18% of Millennials said they would pay to use social media platforms.
— 88% of U.S. adults in April 2023 said they had used YouTube in the past month.
—– 47% of U.S. adults said they had used TikTok in the past month.
—– 57% of U.S. adults said they had not used Twitter in the past month.
— 42% of respondents said they were interested in music generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
— 59% of U.S. adults said there should be government restrictions on “AI’s ability to replace entertainment industry workers.”
—– 67% of liberal respondents said there should be government restrictions.
—– 60% of conservative respondents said there should be government restrictions.
