From the Classroom to the Office: My Experience as a Hoffman Intern

Going into college, I was unsure of where a major in public relations would take me. As I navigated through classes and extracurriculars, I discovered I had a passion for communicating strategically.

During my first internship with the Women’s Collegiate Softball League as their media relations representative, I was able to garner several pieces of coverage for the league. The feelings of pride and happiness that I experienced after seeing the articles only further confirmed that I wanted to pursue public relations as a career.

Starting my senior year of college, I knew it would be difficult to find a job post-graduation simply because of the quarter system and the University of Oregon’s June graduation. Scrolling through the endless listings on LinkedIn or Indeed left me feeling hopeless and unsure of what the next steps would be after I finished school.

One day, I came across a LinkedIn post for an intern position from Hoffman’s very own Brooklynn Loiselle, who also hailed from the University of Oregon. After doing some brief research on the agency, I decided to apply and set up an informational meeting with Brooklynn to go over the details of the internship.

The rest is history!

All the great people I met throughout the interview process made it an easy decision for me to choose Hoffman as the place to begin my professional career.

While entering the professional world has been a daunting task, the team at Hoffman has made my transition from college to the public relations profession a smooth and seamless one. This is an overly exciting time to be a part of the tech PR world, and while my experience with technology is limited, I have felt very uplifted by the entire Hoffman team.

Moving forward with Hoffman, I am excited to learn about the ins and outs of the tech industry and life as part of an agency. I am also eager to learn more about the Hoffman team and get to know as many people as possible.

While life post-graduation has been overwhelming at times, I have enjoyed returning home and spending quality time with my family, dog and friends. Unpacking is no one’s favorite activity, but it was exciting to see my new room come together as I start this new chapter of my life.

After work, I love to go to the driving range and hit golf balls, take my dog Roxie to the beach, watch a new movie or play jazz music on my trombone.
