BeautyCon LA 11.02.23

Beautycon LA is not merely a convention. It’s an annual cultural celebration where beauty enthusiasts, influencers, and industry leaders converge to explore, celebrate, and discuss the ever-evolving world of beauty and cosmetics. Held in Los Angeles, this event is a true embodiment of the beauty industry’s dynamism and its deep-rooted connection to self-expression and individuality. With its extensive array of immersive experiences, panel discussions, beauty brand exhibitions, influencer meet-ups, and educational sessions, Beautycon LA has become a pivotal event on the beauty industry’s calendar. But what sets Beautycon LA apart isn’t just the celebration of outer beauty. It’s also about embracing one’s unique identity and inspiring self-confidence. Every year, Beautycon LA serves as a barometer for the latest beauty trends with the 2023 edition being no exception.

Multi-purpose balms and sheer, dewy makeup

A significant trend that took the floor by storm at Beautycon LA was the prevalence of multi-purpose balms. These balms, available in stick form or tubs, were designed to be hydrating, monochromatic, and perfect for building color across various areas of the face, including the cheeks, lips, and even the eyes. Notably, traditional makeup brands were a rarity, with a more pronounced focus on sheer color products that offer all-in-one convenience. Many of these multi-purpose products from brands like Good Weird and Revolution Beauty were also infused with skincare benefits, providing users with a time-saving and efficient solution. Furthermore, several of these products were intentionally created to be unisex, appealing to a broad and diverse audience.

Hydration for body and skin

At Beautycon LA, the reigning trend was undoubtedly hydration. The event was teeming with skincare and body care products, with a plethora of brands showcasing their offerings. Brands such as Palmers, eos, Sknmuse, eHoney, S’able Labs, Tereno Botanicals, and Good Weird, among others, put forward an enticing array of products designed to keep skin and body moisturized and nourished. Attendees were treated to a wealth of options, including lip balms, body oils, body creams in various scents, facial moisturizers, eye creams, and more. The emphasis on hydration left everyone feeling beautifully refreshed and revitalized and smelling delicious.

Treatments and services

Beyond a display of beauty products, Beautycon LA also showcased a substantial focus on services and treatments. Many brands introduced services that allowed attendees to experience beauty in a more hands-on and interactive way. Notable examples included Studex, a brand specializing in piercing services, and Rebundle, a platform connecting individuals to a directory of braiders for intricate and stylish hair braiding services. Moreover, Electric Glutes presented EMS (Electric Muscle Stimulation) training for the body, demonstrating the holistic approach to beauty that encompasses both products and wellness solutions. Abbvie, a brand specializing in innovative medicines and life-enhancing solutions, was also a highlight, showcasing a range of groundbreaking healthcare options and promoting a comprehensive approach to health and beauty.

Hair repair

Aligning with the overarching theme of hydration for the skin and body, hair care also took the spotlight at Beautycon LA. A variety of hair care products, including conditioners, leave-in treatments, bond builders, and more, were on display. Exhibiting hair care brands such as Made Gentle, Flower Child, and As I Am offered attendees a range of solutions to address various hair care needs. The prevalence of hair repair products indicated a growing awareness of the importance of hair health in the overall beauty and self-care routine.
