Improving the Workplace with Remote Communication 12.09.20

There has never been a more popular time for remote communications, especially for businesses.

Throughout the worldwide pandemic, plenty of employees around the world have had to work from their homes to make sure they’re staying safe, and with all that work comes a lot of remote communications solutions.

There has been a skyrocket in popularity with different remote communications solutions, and one of them became particularly popular, to the point where Zoom’s daily meeting participants in April ended up increasing to 300 million, which was a threefold increase compared to the daily participants only four months prior, in December.

Like Zoom, Microsoft Teams’ daily active participants increased to 75 million from a little over 30 million in the same time period.

The entire situation has made the entire world to become virtual, which has, in turn, made remote communication essential, and not just for people’s professional lives, but their personal ones too. The customers’ needs and expectations are increasing and evolving, which means these remote communications platforms have to keep up with the public’s demand.

Having successful employees means that they can access all the technology they need to allow remote connectivity and fast communication.

The downside to digital communication, specifically through text, is that it doesn’t allow people to easily pick up on different facial cues or body language, which means that remote communication platforms have to find ways to mimic everyday communication as closely as possible.

By having this type of communication resemble everyday communication, the employee’s productivity saw an increase in many companies and organizations.

The traditional work environment means that employees are working 9-5, but this means that they aren’t working at their peak performance times. The energy levels throughout the day are different for different people, and understanding these levels can increase employee productivity.

The key here is to match the most productive hours for each employee with the highest priority work. Some people work better in the morning, while others in the evening, and with remote communication, employees can do their work during their peak performance hours without wasting time.

Remote work and communication also allow companies and their employees to become a lot more flexible because they’re able to work from anywhere. This means the employees aren’t tied to living in the same location as their work. When the employees can live wherever they feel is best, it leads to a lot more fulfilling life and better employee morale.

Not only that, when they can live in different locations around the country, or the world, they’re still able to work during their most productive hours, due to the remote communication.

Finally, all of these points mean that employers no longer have to rely on local people to fill out their company positions. During this time, the best benefit for companies is that the employers have a much bigger talent pool and know that no matter what, they’re selecting the best person for each job.
