Making Procurement A Little More Personal

Government contracts have been a part of the HMA client mix since the ‘80s, starting with the city of Phoenix Public Transit Department.  Since then, we have worked for more than 50 different public sector entities, including school districts, municipal, county, tribal and state agencies.

There was a time when potential contractors were not even allowed to talk to governmental procurement officers.

Times have changed.

The Copper Chapter of the National Institute for Public Procurement has been a leader in helping foster engagement between potential suppliers and procurement professionals.  The organization recently held a reverse trade show in which we were able to meet, greet and engage with a wide spectrum procurement professionals.  It was an opportunity for vendors to share their industry-expertise and know-how when it comes to working with public agencies.   It also provided professional development opportunities for those in the procurement field.

There are many in the PR industry who steer clear of government work, mainly due to what has historically been a cumbersome new business development process.

For us, it’s rather routine.
