Honoring Paula Pedene, APR, Fellow PRSA: VA Whistleblower

When I first started EthicalVoices in 2018, I knew who my first interview had to be.  Paula Pedene, APR, Fellow PRSA. She is a whistleblower who embodies the ideal of the ethical public relations professional.

She collaborated with Phoenix VA Dr. Sam Foote, members of Congress, and the media to expose the unethical wait times and delays managers were imposing on our nation’s veterans. This came at great personal expense, but did the right thing and saved lives.

This coming week she is being inducted into the Defense Information School Hall of Fame,  I strongly encourage everyone to buy her book: A Sacred Duty

If you want to hear snippets of her story, check out the first EthicalVoices interview:

I’m glad you posted this – I’m a veteran, I work in PR and I had no idea of her role here. The VA seems to me a fiefdom that reluctantly, perhaps begrudgingly, executes programs and budgets mandated by Congress. She’s a saint. I will take a look at Paula’s book.
