Beech-Nut cites ‘abundance of caution’ in recall

The baby food maker is recalling about 2,000 pounds of products because of a shard of glass found in a jar.

Another week, another food recall.

This time around, it’s not about listeria contamination, however. Beech-Nut is recalling about 2,000 pounds of baby food because a customer reportedly found a small piece of glass inside a jar. The company has set up a recall minisite to address concerns.

A statement on Beech-Nut’s minisite says, in part:

We have initiated a voluntary recall for our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken following a single report of a small glass piece found in a jar of the product. Outside of this single report, we have no indication that any other jar of our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken is affected, but as a company of parents and families we are acting with an abundance of caution.
