Another month means another meet the team! For October, get to know all about Claire – our B2B whizz and crisis comms specialist.

How long have you been at Prohibition? Just slightly over 12 months, so I’ve celebrated my one-year anniversary here.

What do you love most about your job? The variety of work and clients. It’s never a dull day. Because I’m a B2B specialist I really like the different ways of working with these clients. I’ve also never worked with such a brilliant team – everyone is so supportive of each other and really friendly.

Tell us a bit about your journey to working at Prohibition. I started as an Account Director having worked as Head of PR and Content at another agency. Even though I’ve been in PR for more years than I care to admit, every day is still a school day – and I love it. Whether it’s learning new features from social media platforms or getting to grips with the latest “helpful content update” from Google – it means you’re always developing.

What’s your top tip for someone looking to get into the PR industry? I would always say that people wanting to work in PR need to have great writing skills – so it’s important to develop these. Make sure you’re reading widely too, as it helps to develop grammar and vocabulary.

What’s your favourite social media platform and why? I use Instagram more than any others, but I don’t really have a favourite. Each of them is good for a different audience. LinkedIn for developing your own personal brand, Twitter I see as a customer service channel more than anything else (or where people go to get really shouty). And Tik Tok is perfect for watching cat videos, but I do tend to lose an hour of my time every time I open it.

What do you love most about working/living up North? I’ve never lived, or worked anywhere else, so I’m Yorkshire born and bred (with the accent to prove it)

What three things could you not live without? Coffee, my cats and my family. (Probably in that order too 😊)

Give us your favourite quote.

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light.”

If you could switch places with any celeb for the day – who would it be and why? I wouldn’t swap places with a celeb for a day because that kind of fame is just not for me. However, I would love to spend some time with Michelle Obama as I find her very inspirational and would just love to pick her brains for a couple of hours.

What’s something you’re secretly (or not so secretly!) really good at/passionate about outside of work? I’ve just joined a bouldering club with my teenage son, and I’m really enjoying it, and looking forward to developing my strength. But also amazed about how good my son is at it – I wish I had his natural talent. I’m really passionate about reading too – and my ‘to be read’ pile of books is getting a bit out of control. I’ve always got a book (or two) on the go and love nothing more than going to bed early to get a few chapters in as often as possible.
