Deloitte assessed cybersecurity threats for companies across the globe and suggested defense strategies for leaders based on geographic region.
1,110 cyber decision-makers at the director level or higher were surveyed across 20 countries.
Key findings include:
1.) 20% of all respondents had experienced 11 or more cybersecurity incidents in the past year.
2.) Organizations within the EMEA region experienced the highest number of cyber incidents, despite having some of the most strict security and privacy requirements.
— Germany and the United Kingdom topped this list (both at 25%).
3.) The APAC region countries experienced the least amount of cyber incidents, all of which were below the global average.
— APAC organizations were most concerned with nation-state and trusted third-party threats.
4.) Nearly 40% of respondents across all three regions reported cybercrime as their biggest concern.
5.) 34% of respondents said cyber terrorists and hacktivists were their biggest concern.
6.) 5G can enable new use cases—such as telemedicine and augmented reality for advanced training but it also presents a large attack surface.
— AI, which remained among the top 5 priorities amongst respondents, can help organizations address cyber attacks.
