Here at NewsWhip, we’re all about bringing you clarity on what matters, and saving you time, and our Q3 updates do just that.

In Q3, we’ve brought our users:

  1. Richer insights through Timeline previous period
  2. Easier and more powerful search options with our curated and headline-only searches
  3. Increased data quality with expanded Twitter and Reels data

Timeline previous period – quickly compare interest over time

Our work to expand the scope of the Timeline widget means that it now gives you a visual reference for easily assessing and comparing how a topic has evolved over time with metrics that show the percentage change in both public and media interest compared to the previous period. Check out the video to see how it looks on the Timeline widget.

The addition of this visualization means that you can save time when you need to contextualize whether a topic is increasing or decreasing in engagement since the previous period such as yesterday, or last week.

This feature is on by default for standard time ranges, and can be toggled on or off for all.

Curated searches – save time with pre-built searches

Our curated searches give you access to a growing library of pre-built searches that have been carefully curated by our experienced research team. These focus on the key events, topics, and trends that we know will be of interest to your team. Check out the video to see how it works.

This addition is perfect for saving you time whilst enabling you to expand your knowledge of how to construct and edit high-quality searches to meet your unique needs.

All the searches are ready to go and can be used as they are. This can inspire and save significant time for existing users, but is also a great introduction to the product to new members or your team or for those who aren’t as familiar with search building.

Search headline only – bypass the byline

Search only article headlines is the latest release for web monitoring. You are now able to limit the search of your keyword(s) to only the headline. This function helps further filter out any noise when you only want to find articles where your keyword is the main subject.

There are now three options available. Search headline and summary will search for your keywords in the headline, byline, summary, metadata, and the URL of the articles. Search full article will search for your keywords in the full text of articles, and search headline only will narrow the search to just the headline.

Twitter and Instagram – enhancements to network data

We are pleased to announce the improved reach and depth of our social media channels for both Twitter and Instagram this quarter.

Twitter is no longer limited to the last seven days. You’re now able to search tweets in NewsWhip Spike for up to 90 days, keeping it consistent with our other widgets.

As this is a new feature, you will not be able to search prior to August 5th, 2022. However, tweets discovered on or after this date will be searchable indefinitely. This means that the full 90 days option will be active from November 3rd, 2022.

In addition to our expanded Twitter time range, Instagram Reels are now discoverable in NewsWhip Spike. Reels will now be included in All Posts in the Instagram widget as default with the option to filter by them, as you also can with image posts.
