Fiat Chrysler issues brief, dry release about record-breaking fine
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has hit the company with a penalty of up to $105 million over mishandled recalls.
Fiat Chrysler’s press release about its “consensual resolution” to pay the largest fine in the history of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is understandably brief.
The company explains the reason for the fine, which could go up to $105 million:
The consent order includes an admission by [Fiat Chrysler] US that in three specified campaigns it had failed to timely provide an effective remedy, and that it did not timely comply with various reporting requirements under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966.
