Question of the Month: What Inspires Your Writing?

For each issue, the editors of Strategies & Tactics ask PRSA members a “Question of the Month.” In honor of our “Storytelling & Writing” issue, we posed the following question for February: “What inspires your writing?”

“The writing I produce is driven by the desire to deliver honest, compelling and ethical communications that has value to society. Accuracy and immediacy are the primary inspirational factors for me.”

Edward M. Bury, APR
Coordinator of Public Information, Urban Transportation Center, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Chicago

“The best stories build worlds that immerse the reader. I borrow a bit of that for PR by building on the world audiences already live in. Make it a little better, easier, lighter — whatever makes sense!”

Leenhea Durousseau
Commucations Specialist, McLean, Va.

“My writing is inspired by my passion for diversity and inclusion — I keep this lens in mind when I write. How will it be received? What if others read it? How will they perceive it? I aim to be as inclusive as possible — including in my writing.”

Laarni Rosca Dacanay
PR and Communications Consultant, Comcast, Newport Beach, Calif.
