Do you need to partner with an agency or hire an internal inbound marketer?

By Katie Boyles

Choose how your company should handle its inbound marketing efforts.

Your company’s website content seems stale and your leads pipeline is dwindling. You want to improve the way your company reaches prospective customers, so how do you do it? One of the best ways is through inbound marketing, which utilizes HubSpot’s methodology to attract, convert, close and delight prospects. It’s the future of marketing. Once you decide inbound is the best option for your company, you need to decide who will direct your company’s inbound strategy and efforts.

There are two options: hire a Hubspot-trained agency or hire an internal inbound marketer.

  1. Hire a Hubspot agency.

The first option is hiring a public relations agency to manage all your inbound efforts. Bringing on a team of experts allows you to continue to run your business as usual while the agency improves how you reach customers. The expert team develops an inbound marketing strategy, conceptualizes ideas, researches topics, writes creative content, publishes it live on your website and promotes it through multiple channels.

By utilizing an agency, there are multiple inbound marketing-certified professionals contributing to your success, all while measuring results to prove it’s working. The firm’s team gets to know your company and starts telling your story using the inbound methodology. The whole inbound process goes much faster with a team of pros versus one internal person managing each step.

  1. Create an inbound marketing position within your company.

The second option is to hire a new employee to handle inbound marketing. Your top concern will probably be the cost of creating a new position. Remember, it’s not simply the salary; it’s the combined overhead and risks that come with a single position. Alternatively, an agency will most likely be on a monthly retainer fee with a simple clause to terminate at any time.

You’ll want to recruit the ideal candidate for the new inbound marketing position. (Keep in mind that with top talent comes a higher salary!)

An inbound marketer needs to have the following qualifications:

  • Inbound marketing certified.
  • An expert marketer.
  • An expert graphic designer.
  • An expert in search engine optimization.
  • An expert in social media management.
  • An expert copy editor.
  • Proficient in photography.
  • Proficient in web development.
  • Creative.

If you’re unable to find a candidate with all of these skills, you can outsource or hire additional team members for your inbound marketing needs. Or, you can hire an inbound marketing agency with a team of skilled marketers handling all your efforts.
