Nicole was selected as the Gold Award winner for “Public or Media Relations Professional of the Year” in Bulldog’s Stars of PR 2018 Awards. She also took home a Silver award in 2017, along with a Stevie Award for Women in Business in the “Woman of the Year – Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations” category. Breakthrough communication approaches

Nicole breaks the mold and creates her own, as the CEO of both NRPR Group and the Young Dreamers Foundation.

PR Pro Who Makes a Difference: NRPR’s Nicole Rodrigues showcases talent with integrityAt NRPR, she created a playbook that includes best practices and standards for conduct, and implemented weekly reading periods and discussions to assure staff are abreast of industry news and trends to be used for pitching and thought leadership. These activities translate into increased media coverage, sales leads, and revenue-generation in the millions for each client.

Nicole always knew she was destined to inspire others—especially future leaders—through encouragement, positive mentoring, and getting them fired up about what they can achieve. At Young Dreamers, Nicole produces creative school activities, all-school assemblies, workshops, and more, on goals and emotional intelligence and the ability to control one’s emotions.

In under two years, Nicole and the Young Dreamers team has visited 30 schools, positively impacting over 150,000 students. These programs include materials, how-to videos, curriculum development, all-school fire up rallies, and motivational playlists to encourage productivity. In 2019, Young Dreamers will visit 40 schools, combining return visits to schools and new sites, including Hawaii, New Jersey, and Atlanta locations. The program is offered at no charge to the schools and is fully fundedby Nicole, and NRPR as a sponsor. In the future, Nicole plans to incorporate corporate sponsorships. Additionally, Young Dreamers is supported by the Child Safety Network, as they love the program and have given its stamp of approval on curriculum and many of Nicole’s mentor chat outlines.

Demonstration of integrity

Nicole is committed to high levels of integrity, which is exemplified in the employees and clients of NRPR and the volunteers at Young Dreamers. Nicole will turn down engaging with a client, for example, if they aren’t not animal-friendly, or don’t make a product she believes in. Her entire staff must be people whom she feels exude positive energy and honesty.

PR Pro Who Makes a Difference: NRPR’s Nicole Rodrigues showcases talent with integrityNicole takes her public relations passion beyond the agency, creating the programs PRfect Pitch and PRfect Pitch LIVE. In part, the programs are offshoots of Nicole’s recognition that media professionals lacked outlets to voice their thoughts. In PRfect Pitch, she interviews top media members and PR agency owners to gather tips, insights, pet peeves, etc. and shares those with aspiring PR pros to help them step up their game with regard to pitching responsibly and thinking more creatively for brands.

NRPR also takes on pro-bono projects. The firm worked with Charlie and his Dream Machine Bus Tour, when they embarked on a national journey to redefine how millionaires should spend their money, to garner media. NRPR secured 26 hits for Charlie and The Dream Machine Bus Tour, including television coverage in Phoenix, Kansas City, San Diego, radio in Austin, TX, Houston, Columbus, OH, and Lancaster, PA.

NRPR also worked with The Hug Alliance’s campaign for National Hugging Day and leveraged Huggies, Mattel, The Guinness Book of World Records, Andy Vargas of Carlos Santana, neuroscientists, and clinical psychologists, and others presenting research on the Power of Hugs.

Results achieved

On the agency side, NRPR’s biggest accomplishments have been close to 500 media hits in under two years for Heal, which creates meaningful, personal, accessible, and results-driven relationships between doctors and patients utilizing mobile technology during housecalls. For client Neurovalens, NRPR worked on an August 2017 and from then to year-end, secured 117 media placements. From January 2018 to March 2018 alone, NRPR secured 253 hits for Neurovalens, which had its in-person launch of its first-ever consumer device: Modius, the world’s-first wearable headset aimed at helping people get lean and manage weight through neuroscience at CES in January 2018, over twice as many as 2017. The initial coverage NRPR garnered on their behalf helped them raise over $2 million via Indiegogo, with an additional $100,000 raised from the airing of a segment on the TV show The Doctors, which NRPR secured for them. The press also helped them grow their Modius Life Facebook community to 1,655 members.

In 2018, Nicole and NRPR signed more than 15 new clients in just one year. One of those new clients was Beautytap, the premiere destination for all-things K-beauty. To kick off the relationship, NRPR and Team Beautytap worked together to announce and publicize the grand opening celebration for its first brick-and-mortar location, taking the fully online company offline for the first time. NRPR worked with K-pop icon, Jessica Jung, to include her in a meet & greet and autograph signing for fans to signify her relationship with Beautytap’s new store. As a result of Nicole and her team’s outreach, more than 29 journalists attended the grand opening event and there were more than 32 original pieces of coverage, including the cover of the business section of the Los Angeles Times.

These examples and so many more demonstrate why Nicole Rodrigues won the Gold as “PR Professional Who Makes a Difference” in Bulldog Reporter’s 2018 Stars of PR Awards. Let’s hope her story inspires her colleagues to strive to her level of success!
