When Your Friends Are Famous

Each year, the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), where I served on the board of directors for about 12 years, accepts nominations for its prestigious Silver Circle. The Silver Circle Award recognizes individuals with extraordinary service to television industry and community for more than 25 years, with the majority being spent in the Rocky Mountain Region (Arizona, new Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and El Centro, California) – our own Scott Hanson, in fact, was inducted years ago.
When I saw this year’s slate of honorees, I just had to write this. That’s because one of my dearest media buds – and long-time Emmy committee board member and fellow trouble maker – Jennifer Doan is among the awardees!

I’ve known Jennifer about 15 years, and I may be remembering this wrong, but I think I helped coax her to join the Rocky Mountain Emmy board 10 or so years ago. The girl is a machine. She has been the FOX 10 Arizona morning show producer since the 1990s, and is among the most beloved media members in the public relations community for her communicative responses, attention to detail and openness to ideas. That is a crazy run, and she is a crazy talent. Congrats to Jen as well as this year’s other honorees Sean McLaughlin, Tara Hitchcock, Mike Harris and Felipe Corral.

Jen and her fellow Silver Circle inductees will be honored in September at the annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards at The Phoenician in Scottsdale.
