#MediaMonday – Mike Broomhead

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Mike Broomhead of KTAR News 92.3’s Mike Broomhead Show. It’s on every weekday from 8 a.m. to noon. Mike spent 10 years at News Talk 550 KFYI before joining KTAR earlier this year Mike time to share:

I can’t tell you how excited I am every day to be on FM talking to a massive and diverse audience about important issues on the most historic radio station in Phoenix.  KTAR is Arizona and so am I. I came from a 5,000 watt AM station and am now at 100,000 watt FM station. Love the size and new diversity of the audience. I am a Republican. But I am an American and Arizonan first. I believe that it isn’t about right vs left. It’s about right vs wrong. I want what’s best for all of us.

I moved from Ft. Myers, Fla., to Phoenix in February of 1995 to be a bull rider. I was an electrician and I knew I’d find a job. I was introduced to a world champion bull rider named Cody Custer who had a rodeo company with his brothers. They taught me the rodeo business and to ride bulls. Was a dream come true.

On Memorial Day of 2003, one of my younger brothers was KIA in Iraq. Since I am the oldest, I became the family spokesman. That is what started my broadcasting career.  I was asked to speak all over the country as a volunteer for the Bush campaign in ‘04. It turned into radio and TV guest appearances and eventually my own show. I started full time in June of ’09.

Among my career highlights are serving as the emcee for two presidential visits in 2004 by George W. Bush.  I am also a regular fill-in for Glenn Beck’s national radio and TV show.

When I’m not working, I love to ride my bike.  I have a 2019 Road Glide.  I also love the gym as I am trying to stay as strong as I can.
A couple little-known facts about me:  I am terrified of snakes and heights.
