Charter axes Time Warner Cable brand

The $55 billion deal closed recently, and only one cable company’s name will survive. The move is aimed at quelling criticism over its customer service.

It’s a perennial loser when it comes to customer-service scores, and it’s among the most maligned on social media. Now that Charter has closed its roughly $55 billion purchase of the cable/phone/Internet provider, the Time Warner Cable brand is going away.

From a PR perspective, Charter probably couldn’t get rid of Time Warner’s name fast enough.

“While Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks customers will not see any immediate change, the company will be called Charter, and the products and services will be marketed under the ‘Spectrum’ brand,” a Charter spokesman told MSN.com.
