5 tips to inspire creativity for your next campaign

by | Dec 19, 2019 | Public Relations

A successful comms campaign requires a lot of detailed thought and planning before launching, but it can often be difficult to locate and utilise the inspiration you need to devise a strategy that will truly make a difference to your company.

A campaign is only as successful as the amount of planning that goes into it. With PR, there are many matters to consider—and there are things that could go wrong if you don’t give them the time they need. To make your campaign the best it can be, you need to generate great ideas and plan them well. Here’s how.

Create an inspiring environment

The environment you work in has a huge impact on the quality of work that you produce. If your work environment isn’t enjoyable to be in, you won’t be at your most productive. This will slow down your progress and inevitably hinder the success of your campaign.

Work in a light-filled space

An office with small windows—or no windows at all—can make you feel stifled, which can then stifle your ideas. A room with Bay Windows will allow sunlight to filter through and brighten the room with natural light, which will lift your mood and encourage you to work more productively and creatively.

Work comfortably

Comfort is of huge importance when you are working on significant projects. If you sit in an uncomfortable chair for hours on end, your mind may be preoccupied with thoughts of discomfort and the fact that you want to leave the chair as quickly as possible. It’s a good idea to invest in comfortable furniture and keep good posture throughout the day.

Work collaboratively

Bouncing ideas off of your colleagues and developing them as a team is the best way to nourish creativity, inspiration and team bonding. You may come up with an idea but you are not sure how to execute it; if you share this with a colleague, they may have the solution for you.

Working collaboratively with your team will always boost your creativity and the ideas you come up with. You can receive support and encouragement from each other, which will increase your confidence in sharing new ideas for future marketing campaigns.

Research campaigns you admire

There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration from other people. If you are struggling to generate ideas of your own, take the time to research other successful campaigns that you have admired in the past.

See if you can discover any behind-the-scenes details about how they devised and planned the idea, and how they executed it as well. This may spark some ideas of your own for your company’s marketing strategies.

When researching, try to pinpoint:

  • How they came up with the idea
  • What research they conducted beforehand
  • How they worked the original idea into their final result

Researching past campaigns can be helpful in inspiring your own ideas and figuring out if they would work for your company.

Coming up with an idea is sometimes the most difficult part of the creative process. Give yourself the best chance by using these tips.
