It’s a nationwide celebration of narcissism.

You’re going to see lots of people—even more than usual—snapping self-taken photos with their cell phones Thursday.

June 21 is National Selfie Day.

People will be pulling out their smartphones, finding the best lighting, applying their preferred filter and searching for incredible backdrops to snap unassisted photos.

In recognition of the self-captured digital portrait celebration, here are five of the most famous, funny, unlikely and interesting selfies.

Bradley Cooper took this photo at the 2014 Academy Awards and, after Ellen Degeneres shared it on her Twitter account, it is still the platform’s most-shared selfie ever. It also had the most retweets until a certain nugget tweet broke that record.
