With so much of the population spending so much time on mobile devices these days, optimizing marketing efforts for mobile is crucial for businesses. In fact, in 2018, Statista stated that 54 percent of all consumers now browse social media on a mobile device at least once a day. This makes it critical to optimize your social media marketing strategy to be mobile-friendly to engage these consumers. With these seven tips, you can get started on enhancing your social media campaigns!

1. Make your Facebook page mobile-friendly

While automatic mobile formatting works well on platforms like Instagram or Twitter, on Facebook it may leave you with poor user experience, including poorly cropped images and hidden copy. Facebook is one of the top social media platforms, due to its targeting capabilities with specific audience personas, so creating an easy-to-use interface will enable you to keep your audience on your company’s page.

2. Keep your links mobile-friendly

Every landing page you are linking to on your social channels needs to be fully optimized for mobile. If you do not use sites like Bit.ly to shorten your URLs, you run the risk of turning away users who would have possibly clicked. By monitoring your brand’s reputation through social media, you can keep your eye on competitors and industry news.

3. Use Quick Response (QR) codes

A QR code, or a machine-readable barcode typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone, are becoming increasingly popular in mobile marketing. They’re simple, intuitive and have many uses for out-of-the-box approaches for connecting with customers, such as creating ads for apps and making holiday greeting cards or mixtapes.

4. Send links via SMS texts

While many of us are recipients of SMS marketing for promotions and discount codes, a great way to connect with your customers is to include your social media links in your texts. Including your social channels builds a lasting relationship by motivating your customers and prospects to become part of your community. SMS texts can assist you in achieving earned media, which is one of the top digital marketing trends of 2019.

5. Shorten URLs

Character length is equally as important in your SMS texts as it is in your website copy, so a URL shortener will ensure you get the most out of your mobile marketing campaigns. In SMS marketing where short and sweet messages are critical, using shortened URLs generate more clicks for affiliate links. Remember to check each platform’s rules on shortening affiliate links before proceeding.

6. Encourage user-generated content

User-generated content such as videos posted to your company’s social media pages increase and maintain user activity on your page. Providing a CTA in your post for a user-generated video competition or just encouraging your community to engage with your videos is an effective way to keep the conversation going and keep your page robust with content.

7. Analyze your results

By using online social media monitoring tools for all of your social media accounts monthly, you can identify your most effective content and build a strategic posting schedule. Comparing mobile versus desktop users should be part of this analysis. Focusing on posts that had a high engagement rate on a desktop but not on mobile, you can optimize your content strategy to make those posts more mobile-friendly going forward.

Until next time!
