#MediaMonday – Priscilla Torres

Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Priscilla Torres, who hosts Acceso Total Arizona on Telemundo.
Priscilla, how did you get into broadcast journalism?
I always loved anything related to entertainment and communications, but it was something I thought was difficult to achieve so once I graduated High School in Puerto Rico, I decided to pursue a totally different career in Chicago. It was there where I met a TV anchor, and I asked him how did he get to that position. He told me what college he had been to, and I decided to follow in his footsteps and pursue a career as a television producer and director.
How did you come to be the host of your own show? Tell us about your story!
Well. Once I started studying television, I did an internship in Telemundo Chicago. Once I graduated, I was hired as a Creative Services Producer where I collaborated with their Acceso Total show producing stories. I then moved to Telemundo Arizona, and it is here where I became the main entertainment reporter. I have received four Emmy awards for my work in Arizona. After a couple of years, there was an opportunity at the station to start a local Acceso Total show, and I was offered to be the host and producer. Since I studied production and direction, I’ve been able to perform several tasks within the show. As of now, I host, produce, write, edit and sometimes shoot the stories for the show. I always recommend people that want to start in this business to learn as many aspects of TV as possible, because that is what makes you an asset in this career.
