What is shared media?

By Axia Public Relations

35333054_sShared media is social media. It’s evolving and continues to build beyond just marketing or the customer service teams using it. Organizations have begun to use it as their main source of communications internally and externally. Shared media includes publishing to social sites, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

There are four types of media:

  • Paid
  • Earned
  • Shared
  • Owned

Paid, earned, shared, and owned media make up the PESO model. At Axia Public Relations, our vision is to provide the industry’s best PR services and share stories that connect people and brands through earned, shared, and owned media. Our thought is that in PR, paid media falls under the category of shared media for sponsorships and sponsored content. In our opinion, paid media shouldn’t be part of the PESO model because it isn’t an essential part of a PR firm’s service.

We focus on what we call the ESO model.

  • Earned – Earned media is when you’ve earned the opportunity through media relations to appear in a news story.
  • Shared – Shared media is user-generated content and social media.
  • Owned – Owned media is content you’ve created and have full control over (e.g., your website or blog).

As industry experts, Axia can manage your social media profiles and efficiently engage and reach your target audiences, creating opportunities for conversations between you and your customers.
